– updated Spring 2021
Let’s face it – it’s all takeout right now. But if you’re itching to venture outside of your room to get some grub, we’ve got some great places for you to try.
A1 bodega & Cafe
On one side, a restaurant/café serving a range of Italian and Mediterranean fare with a beautiful back patio. On the other side, a small neighbourhood grocery and convenience store featuring an array of local products, take-home meals, and fresh produce. The Bodega is open every day from 11am – 8pm. Just want some food from the Cafe? Order online for pickup or delivery, 4pm-9pm Wednesday-Sunday.
Native Tongues
A local favourite for authentic Mexican cuisine in a social, nightlife setting. Flavourful tacos, burritos and antojitos alongside a vast array of tequilas and mezcals sourced from across Mexico. They’ve been in Avenue Magazine’s Best Restaurants list for 3 years running. Open for takeout and delivery from 11:30am – 9:00pm every day!
A1 Cantina
A family-friendly, casual Mexican spot featuring a colourful collection of margaritas and tacos a la parrilla (cooked on a charcoal grill). Be sure to try the tacos al pastor, a staple of Mexico City and surrounding area. An adaptation of the traditional “Lebanese Shawarma” to the flavors and ingredients of Mexico. Open for pickup and delivery 12pm-8pm every day (but they have a 2pm-5pm pickup-only Happy Hour!)
Calcutta Cricket Club
Located on the lively 17th Avenue, the modern Indian eatery draws inspiration from West Bengali cuisine and a colourful, gin-forward cocktail list. The award-winning space, designed by local artist Maya Gohill, is cool, casual and colourful – think Wes Anderson meets Golden Girls. Open for takeout and delivery 4pm-10pm every day!
A1 Burrito
Located inside the award-winning Ol’ Beautiful Brewery in Inglewood, Calgary’s oldest community and a great place to explore by foot or by bike. Serving a limited selection of burritos, quesadillas and snacks best enjoyed alongside a cold craft beer.
