Fave 5: Fall Activities in Calgary
September 1, 2023
If you’re visiting Calgary this Fall, we’ve got some exciting events and activities that you’ll definitely want to check out!
1. Catch A Game
Sports fans are welcome here, and we have you covered on every pitch. Catch a game with the Calgary Stampeders (CFL Football), Calgary Flames (NHL Hockey), Calgary Hitmen (CHL Hockey), Calgary Roughnecks (NLL Lacrosse) and the Calgary Wranglers (AHL Hockey).

2. Catch A Show
Our arts & culture scene really picks up in the Fall season. We recommend checking out some of the shows at Theatre Calgary, Alberta Theatre Projects, or with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra. The Calgary International Film Festival is another internationally-renowned event taking place from September 21st until October 1st.
3. The Circus Is In Town
If you’re here in September, Kooza with Cirque Du Soleil is on until the beginning of October at Stampede Park.

4. Fall Time is Pumpkin Time
Other Fall attractions, like Fall Days at the Calgary Farmyard (starts Sept. 1) have tonnes of family-friendly events, including pumpkin photo ops and a corn maze. Granary Road also has their Pumpkin Fest, and WinSport’s Pumpkins After Dark event is definitely worth a visit! If Halloween is your thing, check out Screamfest’s epic haunted house at Stampede Park.

5. Skip The Crowds
A lot of Calgary’s major seasonal attractions – like Heritage Park and Calaway Park – stay open on weekends from Labour Day to Thanksgiving, so it’s a perfect time to get out and experience them with fewer crowds!
