Creative Water Conservation Efforts at The Westley Hotel
At The Westley Hotel, we’re committed to sustainability and finding innovative ways to conserve water, especially during the drier months and during the ongoing water restrictions while the main repair is completed in Bowness. As part of our ongoing efforts to reduce our environmental footprint, we’ve implemented some creative strategies to ensure our outdoor plants stay vibrant and healthy while conserving water.

Repurposing Unused Water
One of the unique ways we’re conserving water is by collecting unconsumed water from our in-house restaurant, Fonda Fora, and guest rooms. Instead of letting this water go to waste, we’re repurposing it to hydrate our outdoor plants. Whether it’s leftover water from a glass at dinner or the tap while washing hands, every drop counts. This small but impactful initiative helps keep our hotel’s green spaces lush and inviting for our guests.

Utilizing City River Water
In addition to repurposing water from our hotel operations, we’re also taking advantage of our proximity to Calgary’s city river water. This natural resource provides us with an alternative water supply, allowing us to maintain our beautiful outdoor plants without relying on treated water. By using river water for irrigation, we’re not only conserving potable water but also supporting the city’s broader efforts to manage water resources sustainably.

Our Commitment to Sustainability
At The Westley Hotel, water conservation is just one aspect of our broader commitment to sustainability. We believe that every effort, no matter how small, contributes to a healthier planet. That’s why we’ve also implemented other water-saving practices, such as encouraging guests to limit shower times, reuse bath towels, and request bed sheet changes only when necessary. These practices, combined with our innovative approaches to water reuse, help us minimize our environmental impact while providing a comfortable and eco-friendly stay for our guests.

Join Us in Our Efforts
We invite all our guests to join us in these water conservation efforts. Together, we can make a significant difference in preserving our planet’s precious resources, especially during this time of disparity while the City of Calgary works to repair the Bearspaw South Feeder Water Main. When you stay at The Westley Hotel, you’re not just enjoying luxurious accommodations – you’re also contributing to a more sustainable future!
